Blogging – A Revolution
on the Internet
During the mid 90s, Blogging marked its entry in
the inn the Internet space during mid-90s. This phenomenon was
usually referred as inspired writing. However, things have
changed a lot since then. Now, you will easily find tech
blogs, drug blogs etc. Apart from these blogs, you will also
find newer categories such as, news blogs as well as
commentary blogs. A few years ago, ideas, quips, arguments,
and links were available only on established news outlets.
However, all of them are available on blog sites also now.
Blogging can also be referred as traditional
journalism due to its striking resemblance with media. It
incorporates significant media attributes. However, blogging
is gradually changing the world of media. It is a revolution
in terms of the functioning of journalism in our society. Blog
is doing those things that even the popular web magazines,
such as Slate or Salon is unable to do.
First, blog is
completely personal and is fully related to the writer’s mood.
This personal gesture of blogs has touched the sensibility of
people, as compared to the opinionated magazines and old
newspapers. Readers may not trust the authority of ‘The
Washington Post’ or ‘National Review’ completely, although
they incorporate such great sounding titles. The major causes
for doubt over their authority are fallible writers and
editors. On the other hand, a blogger has earned more respect
as well as trust.
Secondly, blogs seize the major
source of production. Almost two years ago John McMillan
decided to set up a web page with the help of Blogger.com.
This web page was meant for a few hundred readerships that
incorporate daily musings. Things were a little easier for
him, as he was an established writer. He put in voluntary work
for a few months. However, now he is earning a huge monthly
profit with quarter million readers to boot. John McMillan is
now a known name among blog writers. Another famous blog
writer Peter Jones creates almost a dozen posts in a day. You
can even make good use of your blog writing talent by going to
newspapers and magazines for publishing your essays. It would
be much beneficial to write an article and convert it to a
.pdf file. A few bucks per download can also be charged. Thus,
blogging can also be considered as publishing revolution.
